At the end of the 19th century British citizens and organisations had a choice of architectural styles when planning a new building. High Victorian and to a lesser extent Arts and Crafts were dominant. Art Nouveau was rather sidelined with relatively few architects and clients being exposed to the style. A few architect designers were the exceptions. Charles Rennie Mackintosh is a good example, he both visited and exhibited at Secession meetings in Vienna.
Unsurprisingly there is a significant crossover between Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau, particularly with respect to interior design.
